Ev Dog’s Best College Football Bets Week 1

Without a doubt, the lamest thing I enjoy doing each fall is making weekly college football locks on what underdogs I believe will cover their spread, which games I think will score above or below a certain threshold of points, and prognosticating how many points a team will score in the second quarter. I consider it lame primarily due to my cowardice to bet these picks in real life in fear of squandering the modest means remaining in my bank account, acquiring a gambling addiction, or both and also, because I’m not even in a competition with anyone else. It’s literally just me recording this information in my Notes App. Last season, I finished with a 141-130-2 record, so feel free to fade or follow these picks at your own risk. Reminder to self: Always bet on BYU in Provo during conference play and Ohio State in the 2nd Quarter.

Week 1 Analysis: My record improves dramatically around October when we all obtain a better understanding of who’s a pretender and who’s a contender. Even though these lines have been out for months, I still feel confident in the following twelve picks based solely on vibes.

• Akron vs Wake Forest -24.5

Toledo +9.5 vs Michigan State

• Ball State v Ohio State 2nd Quarter -16.5, 3rd Quarter -10.5

Marshall +24.5 vs Penn State

• Boise St. vs Oregon -24.5

• Tulane vs Duke UNDER 51.5

• Clemson vs LSU UNDER 50.5

Florida Atlantic Team Total UNDER 16.5 vs Florida

South Dakota State +13.5 vs Northwestern

• UCLA vs Cal OVER -53.5

• Wisconsin vs Notre Dame 2nd Quarter -7.5
