Week 1 Review:
Week: 3-9 Season: 3-9
• Akron vs Wake Forest -24.5 – L (Wake won by 22) - We were 29 seconds away. Tough.
• Toledo +9.5 vs Michigan State – L (MSU won by 10) – Who goes for a 51-yarder on fourth and short with two minutes? Pat Fitzgerald a new enemy of Ev Dog Blog.
• Ball State v Ohio State 2nd Quarter -16.5, 3rd Quarter -10.5 – L (2Q – OSU won by 11), W – (OSU by 14) – Maybe I stick with just the 3rd this week or maybe I just learn nothing at all!
• Marshall +24.5 vs Penn State – L (PSU by 45) – Not too sad about this one.
• Boise St. vs Oregon -24.5 – L (Oregon by 7) - Good for Boise State
• Tulane vs Duke UNDER 51.5 – W (Total points (20)
• Clemson vs LSU UNDER 50.5 – L (Total points 61) – Sorry! I thought Clemson’s defense might actually show up.
• Florida Atlantic Team Total UNDER 16.5 vs Florida – L (FAU Total 21)
• South Dakota State +13.5 vs Northwestern – L (NW won by 16)
• UCLA vs Cal OVER -53.5 – W (Total 69) – Nice!
• Wisconsin vs Notre Dame 2nd Quarter -7.5 – L – (Wisc. Won 2nd quarter by 4)
A bummer of a first week, but I still believe the logic was there. As mentioned previously, I get better as the season rolls on with further calibrations generated from the week-by-week results. So, degenerates, don’t lose hope! We’ve got the oddsmakers right where we want them. As Sun Tzu once said in the Art of Gambling, “All sports betting is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to hit our locks, we must seem unable.”
Week 2 Analysis:
In Week 2, I’ll be maintaining a few of my strategies from Week 1 with some new added wrinkles. Betting on Oregon again may sound foolish, but if they can’t beat a Power 4 team that lost to Tulsa by 23, then they don’t deserve a playoff spot even if they’re undefeated. Now that Michigan has discovered how to leverage the fourth dimension with an additional second as needed, we must always bet on Michigan in future home games.
